Lousy Beijing First Impression: Greeted with Thick Haze

Yes, it is no surprise for Beijing, China to have a huge haze problem enveloping the gracious city. Like in the picture above, you can hardly see any further past the Beijing International airport building. My first arrival to Beijing soil, China back in September 2007 was greeted with a sight of thick haze, overshadowing the Beijing international airport.

I felt like I was on another part of the world, well, actually I was in another part of the world already by being in Beijing. What I mean is that my first sight of Beijing was not at all what I had expected. In my mind was beautiful greenery & majestic, colorful oriental palaces. Instead, Beijing is smoking! The airport looks decent on its own but the smog/haze will literally disappoint any good first impressions for visitors to the infamous city of Beijing.

How Many Monkeys Guess Game in Ampang

4 July, 2008 (03:41) | VE South East Asia, VE games | By: a.i. editor

Guess how many monkeys are in the above picture? Answer is at the bottom of the blog post.

When I brought my girl to the top of the hill near my home to see monkeys, we were surprised to see more monkeys than we expected. It was about 3 pm in the evening a group of monkeys were making their way from the forest to their frequent feeding area. We brought along some local fruits to give them. Actually, the fruits were for ourselves but since there were monkeys, we decided to do a monkey feeding session of our own on the hill top. First, we got out of the car & fed a few monkeys. Then, their entire family surrounded us! We were being overwhelmed & the monkeys looked like they wanted to snatch the fruits away from our hands. Don’t they know the difference between a fruit tree & people?

I was scared for the safety of my girl & we decided to retreat to the safety of the car. The monkeys were persistent little buggers. They sat on the car roof, bonnet, & even knocked on the windows. They must have been really hungry! We opened a slit on our windows & handed them some fruits & in the above picture. After our monkey feeding experience, we drove to the spot where monkeys usually get fed by visitors nearby. The monkeys seem to know where to wait for food as it is common practice for people to feed them. We unfortunately also got to witness a monkey couple having brief sexual intercourse on their feeding tree. Gross, it’s not a pretty sight. Lol.

The answer is 6 monkeys.
