Expected More of Beijing International Airport

17 November, 2008 (13:32) | VE East Asia | By: a.i. editor

The baggage claims area of the Beijing International Airport, just like many parts of the building is nothing to shout about & typical. No baggage of mine was lost, most importantly. It is as though the mind set of the Chinese government is reflected in the architecture. Make it simple, functional, give a modernistic form to it, & save cost whenever possible. For my self, arrival to the airport back in September 2006 was without hassle & long queues.

It is the departure from the airport that gave me some shivers. Overall I did expect a whole lot more from the Beijing International Airport considering that Beijing was holding the 2008 Olympics. Of course, there was a new airport terminal being built when I was there & I did not get an opportunity to see it. Folks who visited Beijing in 2008 for the Olympics sure did as there was no way the current airport with its original size & function could support the influx of so many people from around the world during an intense month like the September 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Two Separate Buildings for KLIA Car Park

6 November, 2008 (09:45) | VE South East Asia | By: a.i. editor

I did take a photo of where I parked the car that morning before heading into the KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) main terminal building. You see, the KLIA car parking facility is divided into two separate buildings. One is the B parking facility & the other is the C parking facility. In between them is a so called foot garden that hardly anybody goes to visit. Lol. Obviously it is now just a waste of space. Taking Photos of Car Location in Big Car Parks.

Maybe it can be used to hold a small open air festivity or bazaar or whatever but who would want to travel all the way to KLIA which is surrounded by dense palm oil plantations just to visit a bazaar? Besides, KLIA has ample space inside the main terminal building for such business events or promotions. I should have taken a photo of the Kisho Kurokawa designed foot garden but I was too concerned with finding my parked car. You can see it for yourself, perhaps someday when visiting KLIA. It is possible that you will see a large void space between the two car parking buildings. Also, you probably won’t even know its there let alone want to visit it. The Monkey Gang in Ampang Awaits Visitors

1 July, 2008 (15:12) | VE South East Asia | By: a.i. editor

Now that I have showed to you quite a few places to visit in Malaysia, I shall show to you a particular scene near my home in Ampang. Just about one kilometer walk up the hills from my home, there is a gang of monkeys. The gang of monkeys number from 10 to 20 monkeys including the small ones. Visitors to the area can be seen feeding the monkeys with bananas, peanuts, & etc. The monkeys are quite used to visitors in the area & are not afraid to get up close to you in order to get some food from you.

The area is also comfortable for both humans & monkeys as there are many trees & shaded areas. Additionally, being a top a hill, the area has lower temperatures plus the shade for a cooling experience. Frequent joggers to the area will also receive the view of the monkey gang. The monkeys are not known to be aggressive to humans but you may want to take extra care of your children when near them as they have fangs & could give a nasty bite. Stop by for a session of feeding monkeys in Ampang!
