High Ceiling at KLIA Beijing Flight Gate Area

14 September, 2008 (06:45) | VE East Asia, VE South East Asia | By: a.i. editor

The KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) flight gate area for my flight to Beijing had a high ceiling as in the above picture. I don’t know why it is built so high as the height could possibly built another level of floor. It is a waste of real estate space & you won’t see the same thing at the Frankfurt International airport, well at least anyway not at the transit terminal of Frankfurt airport.

One thing is for sure that there is enough space for future expansion of the KLIA flight gates area in terms of adding another floor. Inside the flight gate area, it is cool at night as the air conditioning is on but it is not cold. The exposed steel trusses of the glass curtain wall add to the overall cooling effect. You can see that the trusses are large & extend throughout the entire length of the glass curtain wall for bracing & support. A start to a wonderful Voyage!

Uzbekistan Snowy Countryside Aerial View 1

View of the Uzbekistan snowy countryside could be seen when the plane to Tatarstan, Russia was on the altitude decline upon reaching the Taskhent International Airport for transit. It was a clear sunny day & I was able to capture some good photos, looking out of the airplane; too good to show you folks but will be available for sale on many microstock sites (heck knows when..).

Hehheh ;)

Succumbed to Waiting Fatigue in Frankfurt Terminal

9 October, 2007 (11:04) | VE Central Asia, VE Europe, VE Russia | By: a.i. editor

Succumb to Waiting Fatigue in Frankfurt Terminal BuildingThere is only so much that one can see while walking in the Frankfurt transit terminal for hours on end. After about 6 hours walking around the terminal, sitting at different places, browsing the duty free shops, making the lounge are like a second home; I finally decided to find a good place to rest where I can stretch my feet, lie down & sleep for a few hours before the long awaited flight to Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia.

I managed to find one particular spot & it was not far away the mini car service lift. Because of it, you would see the mini car buzzing silently past you every once in a while like at the place where I decided to sleep. Not that it is noticeable when you are asleep. I found that the corridor was littered with long benches.

I saw some people succumbing to waiting fatigue & sleeping on some of the benches like they were makeshift beds. It looked like a good idea. I found one bench & started sleeping. There was a man from India opposite with me & we engaged in some small talk, particularly about his son’s study & how it related to me. Some unlucky people only got half a bench like in the picture.
