Military Wear Fashion Trend at Kazan Airport

15 October, 2007 (11:20) | VEW Central Asia, VEW Russia | By: a.i. editor

My first sight of a Russian man in military wear! He was probably the guard standing outside the door in the cold weather. The first impression I got when I entered the building of the Kazan International airport was “Old & Wooden”. At least it was warmer inside the building. I was surprised to see an architectural standard far below that of the KLIA or Frankfurt airport. A man who sat near me in the airplane slammed the metal bar after the immigration possibly to vent his frustration because the airport was ugly & he had no pride in it.

I saw my first Russian lady in military wear too. She was the immigration officer. I do not know how the Russian system works but it seems that almost everyone at the airport was wearing military wear. Some of them like the guard wore military camouflage wear while other personnel in the airport wore green military overcoats. As it was my first experience, I was nervous that I would not be let into Tatarstan, Russia. You know, with the red curtain charm of the Soviet Union & all.

Quick Snapshot outside Lufthansa’s Senator Lounge

10 September, 2007 (04:01) | VEW Europe | By: a.i. editor

Quick Snapshot outside Lufthansa’s Senator LoungeOn the uppermost floor of the terminal was also situated the Lufthansa’s Senator Lounge. It was funny how the lounge was situated in the least busy area of the Frankfurt airport transit terminal, basically secluded out of view. Anyway, I presume that it is the lounge area for first class travelers with Lufthansa.

When I took the picture, the Lufthansa personnel were busy preparing the lounge entrance as in the picture. Also, they were friendly, smiling & accommodating to me when I took the picture. They may have seen me walking in the area more than once. The Frankfurt airport transit terminal is not a big place. You can go round in circles walking & looking at the same things over & over again.
