Many People in KLIA Flight Gates Corridor at Night

8 September, 2008 (22:46) | VEW East Asia | By: a.i. editor

The above picture shows one of the KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) corridors leading to the MAS (Malaysian Airline System) Beijing flight gate. There are many people from all over the world walking, looking for the flight gates for their flights. As you can see, even at night the corridors are filled with many people. I was on my way to catch a flight to Beijing to be with my lady for a week holiday back in September 2007.

The interesting thing about the flight gates corridor is the spot light on the ceiling. You can see that they seem to be randomly arranged like stars in the sky at night. There could be some underlying pattern to the obvious randomness as absolute randomness would prove inefficient for lighting the corridor. The shiny floor reflects the spotlights on the ceiling but there is no obvious glare when you look at the floor. Splendid start to a Voyage!

Blend of Islamic & High Tech Architecture in Putrajaya

17 June, 2008 (11:31) | VEW South East Asia | By: a.i. editor

In the below picture is how you would see the Putrajaya Township while driving in a car. New high tech buildings on both sides of the wide road & cobra curved street lights everywhere. The onion shaped domes usually belong to the government buildings. Malaysia is an Islamic country hence the architecture is designed to resemble many elements found in Islamic architecture like the onion shaped domes & large spanning arches. You may find it like I do, to view the prevalent contrast between the blend of high tech architecture & Islamic architecture in Putrajaya.

One thing is for sure, the Islamic architectural elements have succeeded in making the government buildings look grand & monumental. The high tech architecture in Putrajaya has also succeeded in providing a futuristic outlook for Putrajaya. Combined, both Islamic architecture & high tech architecture in Putrajaya represents Malaysia’s desire & goal for a unique, developed nation by 2020. Do visit Putrajaya while on holiday in Malaysia or Kuala Lumpur. There are many beautiful places to see, splendid for taking photographs!
