Succumbed to Waiting Fatigue in Frankfurt Terminal

Succumb to Waiting Fatigue in Frankfurt Terminal BuildingThere is only so much that one can see while walking in the Frankfurt transit terminal for hours on end. After about 6 hours walking around the terminal, sitting at different places, browsing the duty free shops, making the lounge are like a second home; I finally decided to find a good place to rest where I can stretch my feet, lie down & sleep for a few hours before the long awaited flight to Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia.

I managed to find one particular spot & it was not far away the mini car service lift. Because of it, you would see the mini car buzzing silently past you every once in a while like at the place where I decided to sleep. Not that it is noticeable when you are asleep. I found that the corridor was littered with long benches.

I saw some people succumbing to waiting fatigue & sleeping on some of the benches like they were makeshift beds. It looked like a good idea. I found one bench & started sleeping. There was a man from India opposite with me & we engaged in some small talk, particularly about his son’s study & how it related to me. Some unlucky people only got half a bench like in the picture.

Mini Car Service Frankfurt Transit Terminal

stairs as well as escalatorsFrom where I was standing near the heater machine, I could see that circulation to the upper floors were provided by the stairs as well as escalators (left image) that more often than not were placed side by side to each other in the terminal. I walked around the terminal over & over again. Heck, I had 17 hours to burn before my flight to Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. What else was I supposed to do besides finding a good bench & sleep? Pphbbbttt! :P

As you can see, I found a nook where the mini service cars of the airport were using lifts to move from one floor to another upper floor & vice versa. It looked like a big lift as the mini car went in & out without any problems. Handicapped people especially those using wheelchairs had to use the lifts. Also, the mini service cars provided swift transportation for handicapped visitors, old folks & those traveling in families. The seats on the mini cars look quite comfortable like in the above image.

Small Heater Machine in Frankfurt Transit Corridor

Small Heater Machine in Frankfurt Transit Terminal CorridorMini Service Cars LiftsAdditionally, the area was near a heater machine (white perforated box on the right side in the right picture) that helped provide heat to a corridor in Frankfurt Transit Terminal. I sat near it & immediately felt its warmth. :) There were other Asian people too that took advantage of the heat from the machine. Too bad there were no proper seats provided in the area. One had to seat like the Asian man in the picture.

I reckon he is feeling the warmth from the heater machine too. I was feeling cold at the Frankfurt airport terminal & asked myself, how was I suppose to endure the sub zero temperature in my voyage destination of Tatarstan, Russia. I kept taking pictures with my digital camera to forget about the long hours I had to endure, waiting for my flight to Kazan.
