High Ceiling at KLIA Beijing Flight Gate Area

14 September, 2008 (06:45) | VEW East Asia, VEW South East Asia | By: a.i. editor

The KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) flight gate area for my flight to Beijing had a high ceiling as in the above picture. I don’t know why it is built so high as the height could possibly built another level of floor. It is a waste of real estate space & you won’t see the same thing at the Frankfurt International airport, well at least anyway not at the transit terminal of Frankfurt airport.

One thing is for sure that there is enough space for future expansion of the KLIA flight gates area in terms of adding another floor. Inside the flight gate area, it is cool at night as the air conditioning is on but it is not cold. The exposed steel trusses of the glass curtain wall add to the overall cooling effect. You can see that the trusses are large & extend throughout the entire length of the glass curtain wall for bracing & support. A start to a wonderful Voyage!

Returning Home to Malaysia from Tatarstan, Russia

Returning Home to Malaysia from Tatarstan, Russia

I made my way home on the 11th January 2006 after spending many wonderful days in Tatarstan, Russia with my lady. On the way home, I took the Kazan-Frankfurt-Bangkok-KL flight. You may notice that the people who actually shop in the Duty free of Frankfurt airport & probably other European countries too are a rich bunch of folks.

They are either from Europe themselves, or from Japan, rich Arabs & Asians, & etc. Now that I recall it, I even asked how much it would cost me to have my watch fixed to fit my wrist on my way home to Malaysia from Tatarstan, Russia at Frankfurt airport.

The lady at the duty free watch shop answered nonchalantly “14 Euros”. I was flabbergasted, :O thanked her & walked away from the shop. The fee charged to do a simple task was unbelievable & outright ridiculous, in my opinion. I later had my watch done in a Malaysian watch shop at the Ampang Spectrum shopping mall for a few Ringgit which adds up to around 1 Euros. Lol :)
