..VOYAGE ECHOES (minus WIND)

On board the MAS (Malaysian Airline System) flight to Beijing, I managed to take a picture, a glimpse of the steward/stewardess food preparation area. I was seated just behind the right wing of the plane & the steward/stewardess food preparation area was just a few seats behind me. It was dark & the people around me were sleeping. I felt good to be on my way to Beijing to be with my lady that I could not sleep much so I took out my digital camera & started taking some photos.

As you can see from the above picture, the stewardess was wearing a green sweater of sorts. Either she was feeling cold or she was the head stewardess or like it because the other stewardesses were only wearing the normal MAS stewardess blouse. She was probably making my hot chocolate or fruit juice for me. Lol. My self as usual, always request for a generous servings of drinks on flight. I must have asked for three drinks that night. It feels good to be drinking hot chocolate on a night flight. Super Voyage!

The flight to Beijing from KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) uses a twin engine medium sized passenger airplane, probably an Airbus or a Boeing. Actually I expected it to be at least a Jumbo jet 747 but it shows how more cost effective it is to be using medium sized planes to cater for medium range international flights. I reckon one day I can go on the new medium sized Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Take a look at the Airbus A380 & Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

However, it would probably be on Uzbekistan Airways as I read that MAS (Malaysian Airline System) is only purchasing the super jumbo sized Airbus A380. In the flight gate area I got the chance to have a small chat about the type of plane we were going aboard. He asked me whether I was going to Beijing for business or pleasure. I was going for pleasure but because of the 2 plus kilogram laptop I had in my backpack, I felt like I was going on a business trip. Lol. It reminds me that I should buy a much lighter laptop. The KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) flight gate area for my flight to Beijing had a high ceiling as in the above picture. I don’t know why it is built so high as the height could possibly built another level of floor. It is a waste of real estate space & you won’t see the same thing at the Frankfurt International airport, well at least anyway not at the transit terminal of Frankfurt airport.

One thing is for sure that there is enough space for future expansion of the KLIA flight gates area in terms of adding another floor. Inside the flight gate area, it is cool at night as the air conditioning is on but it is not cold. The exposed steel trusses of the glass curtain wall add to the overall cooling effect. You can see that the trusses are large & extend throughout the entire length of the glass curtain wall for bracing & support. A start to a wonderful Voyage!
