Apart from the normal baggage, hand luggage, socket adaptors & etc; the digital camera is important for travelers. You never know when a flight delay may happen & you stay at the airport for half a day or more like what happened to my girl recently at the Beijing airport. Moving on, a digital camera can help you breeze through the waiting hours to take even hundreds of pictures of people, activities & etc happening in the airport.
Outside of the airport, you can have your digital camera ready to take pictures as fast as your eyes can see something that interests you. On a holiday, there are many things that may interest you as many things are new & different from your home country. You may settle for a fast operating point & shoot camera. Should you also be a budding semi professional photographer, then it is better for you to invest some money in a fast DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera & some quality lenses.
Who knows, your photos may even be good enough to sell as high definition stock photos & eventually pay for your holidays too & more. I reckon it is a good idea to learn how to use a fast DSLR & invest in one simply for the opportunity to travel for free!
