Olympus E-410 Has Underwater Casing Options

Perhaps you know that the Olympus E-510 is probably the best under $1000 DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) in its class. However, there is also the Olympus E-410 which is smaller, lighter & with underwater casing options for the body, lens, & external flash called the PT-E03 Under Water Case. The E-410 is just more than $100 cheaper than the E-510 with almost identical features, sensors & etc. However, the major & considered crucial difference to some people including myself is the Image Stabilizing feature.

I know, some of you may argue that the fancy Image Stabilizing feature is “expandable”. Well, not so. Only DSLR cameras from Sony, Pentax & Olympus has the Image Stabilizing feature. In other cases, without the Image Stabilizing feature, photographers have no choice but to purchase significantly more expensive lens with the Image Stabilizing feature for better quality photos.

Now, why would you want to do the same when you can save money & shoot similar high quality pictures with DSLR cameras that already have the Image Stabilizing feature in the first place? Could the Olympus E-410 have the Image Stabilizing feature then it would be the perfect DSLR camera for me. Hopefully, Olympus is making underwater casing options for the Olympus E-510 so that it can be the perfect DSLR camera under $1000.

Olympus E-510 Top <$1000 DSLR Camera

Olympus E-510 Leading the Way for below $1000 DSLR Cameras

So which DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) has sold its features & performance to me? I would mention the Olympus E-510 camera. It has the features of all the other brands with the exception of the 3 auto focus feature instead of 9 & above of most of the other brands. Nonetheless more AF (auto focus) can confuse the camera & you won’t receive the intended shots. So, I reckon keeping the AF simple & limited can be a good idea.

The best feature of the Olympus E-510 camera is its image stabilization & live view LCD which allows more versatility of using the camera like at concerts above the crowds & one handed shots. You can have a picture of an object in motion in a clear & crisp background because of the image stabilization feature.

Furthermore, you can do action shots with the Olympus E510 with 40-150mm kit lens at 3fps. Faster lens like the ZD 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 SWD (costs around $830) has been claimed to greatly improve the situation when using the Olympus E-510 for action shots. Olympus E-510 camera is the most impressive candidate for my DSLR purchase so far because of its additional Live View feature, quality lenses, decent action shots usage & value for money. Olympus E510 is the winner of the EISA European Consumer Camera 2007-2008 Award.
