Walking Twice Through Food Court to Get to Car

11 November, 2008 (13:38) | VE South East Asia | By: a.i. editor

Mind you, the distance between the Block B & C car parking at the KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) is about 200 to 300 meters apart, not including the length of the bridge that connects them to the MTB; Main Terminal Building. It would be easier for airport users like me to have the car parking made into one single building. That morning after seeing my lady depart to Tatarstan, I messed up with my parking navigation & walked the length of the two buildings & two bridges; & through a lengthy food court twice just to find the car. I had a suspicious feeling that some people were laughing at me on my first pass through the food court. Thankfully, there were some helpful KLIA attendants to help me get my bearings correct.

Lousy Beijing First Impression: Greeted with Thick Haze

3 October, 2008 (07:17) | VE East Asia | By: a.i. editor

Yes, it is no surprise for Beijing, China to have a huge haze problem enveloping the gracious city. Like in the picture above, you can hardly see any further past the Beijing International airport building. My first arrival to Beijing soil, China back in September 2007 was greeted with a sight of thick haze, overshadowing the Beijing international airport.

I felt like I was on another part of the world, well, actually I was in another part of the world already by being in Beijing. What I mean is that my first sight of Beijing was not at all what I had expected. In my mind was beautiful greenery & majestic, colorful oriental palaces. Instead, Beijing is smoking! The airport looks decent on its own but the smog/haze will literally disappoint any good first impressions for visitors to the infamous city of Beijing.

Medium Sized Plane for Flight to Beijing

15 September, 2008 (13:08) | VE East Asia, VE South East Asia | By: a.i. editor

The flight to Beijing from KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) uses a twin engine medium sized passenger airplane, probably an Airbus or a Boeing. Actually I expected it to be at least a Jumbo jet 747 but it shows how more cost effective it is to be using medium sized planes to cater for medium range international flights. I reckon one day I can go on the new medium sized Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Take a look at the Airbus A380 & Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

However, it would probably be on Uzbekistan Airways as I read that MAS (Malaysian Airline System) is only purchasing the super jumbo sized Airbus A380. In the flight gate area I got the chance to have a small chat about the type of plane we were going aboard. He asked me whether I was going to Beijing for business or pleasure. I was going for pleasure but because of the 2 plus kilogram laptop I had in my backpack, I felt like I was going on a business trip. Lol. It reminds me that I should buy a much lighter laptop. Fantastic Voyage!
