Portmarnock Golf Club: Classic Course Welcome
Portmarnock Golf Club is on of Ireland’s classic golf clubs. It was founded in 1894 & was the venue for the first ever Irish Open Amateur Championships in 1896. After about a century, the Walker Cup was held at the prestigious golf club in 1991. The best ranking the golf club acquired was 30th place back in 2005 for the top 100 golf courses outside the US by Golf Digest. At the start, the Portmarnock Golf Club had 9 holes then another 9 holes were added to make it a championship golf course. After 80 years, another 9 holes were added for a total of 27 holes. The golf course is extremely challenging & beautiful too. Located by the seaside, the Portmarnock Golf course provides refreshing sea breezes to players. However, the golf ball will not take it kindly as shots will be swayed by the strong gusts of winds.
It is one of the challenges a golfer faces which include blind curves & classic bunkers too. The Portmarnock Golf course in short, is a test of skill!
