On the Lufthansa Flight to Frankfurt 2005
I arrived at the Bangkok airport around 45 minutes where I had to wait around two hours for the next Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt in 2005, origin of the German hot dogs or frankfurter; maybe but the name is similar. The concourse area was so wide that it seemed like a waste of space. The flight would take around 10 hours so there were two full meals, one or two snack sessions & on board movies.
When first seated, I realized that there were at least two burly men sitting within my view. Maybe they were Lufthansa Airlines air marshals. One of them sat directly next to me. He told me he was from Hungary & was very hungry as he quickly ate when served his food. He was in Bangkok for a holiday & was a professional diver on his way home to Bulgaria.
I remember he got to telling me about a novel which consumed him throughout the entire flight. Perhaps some of you may have read the novel too. The novel was about a father & son team of cave divers who got lost & ran out of oxygen & died. I let him be with his reading. There are only so many hours that a man can sleep comfortably in economy class seats so I asked for hot chocolate from the flight attendant more than twice during the flight & watched the in-flight movies.
