Awesome Alyeska Winter Family Ski Vacation
Alaska, to some people including myself seems like a place so isolated. At least on the world map, Alaska is an isolated part of the US. However, in reality, Alaska is actually a splendid place to have a vacation. Skiing in particular is a good choice of activity to do in the state. Alaska has some fine resorts with the Alyeska Resort being one of the more famous among them. Alyeska is ranked ninth among the top 25 ski trips by Skiing Magazine. The top elevation is 2751 feet with a 2501 feet vertical drop. 631 inches of snow carpet the area every year. It is mentioned that you will not find the slopes overly crowded even though Alyeska is a famous skiing destination. It’s good because you won’t have to wait in long queues at the lifts.
There are nine lifts; among them are six chair lifts & two surface lifts & a single cable car line. Overall, the slopes are suited for the intermediate skiers. Nonetheless there are 68 trails in total with some for beginners & expert skiers. Night skiing enthusiasts will like Alyeska as it is allowed & you have the opportunity to see snow capped mountains, hanging glaciers, & also the famous Northern Lights. Night skiing is more of a necessity especially in December where there is only seven hours of daylight. Being almost at the top of the world, skiers receive sixteen hours of daylight each day during April. Between mid November & middle of April, the skiing season begins at Alyeska. You will not be bored during your vacation in Aleyska. There is the Glacier Tubing Park for folks to try out tubing on two lanes of terrains & a surface lift.
