In the past, before the Malaysian independence in 1957, Merdeka Square was used as a cricket ground for the British administrators to play on & it included an exclusive British citizen (Whites only) only club house which still stands today & can be seen in the picture. Of course, now, the clubhouse is open to the public & no longer limited to British citizen attendees. Racism is a thing of the past. During the annual Merdeka Day celebrations; the Merdeka Square will be transformed to accommodate festivities like concerts, parades, & cultural shows.

I realize that I had put up a lot of KLCC posts on the blog in the past few weeks. Now, we can move on to another part of Kuala Lumpur. Let me show you one of the most significant historical sites in KL. Behind me in the below picture is the Sultan Abdul Samad building. The street in front of the building is always busy during the day as it is one of the access roads into Kuala Lumpur. The building is located in front of the Merdeka Square in Kuala Lumpur.
